General Assistant 9037 | 18 month fixed term contract until 31 March 2027 | £25,185 per annum (Scale C) | 37 hours per week | Millennium Library An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time General Assistant to join the People from Abroad Team. The post is based with a social work team providing support to migrants and their families who require social services support and assistance. This includes refugees who are resettled to Norfolk as part of the UK Resettlement Programme. Our General Assistants provide a vital role in welcoming families to Norfolk, working as part of a mixed-skills team, including volunteers, providing specialist services across the county to migrants and refugees.Duties include, to be responsible to the Warehouse and Logistics Coordinator, to furnish and maintain domestic properties including ongoing maintenance. To carry out tasks allocated by the Warehouse and Logistics Coordinator or the Service Business Manager, such as collecting donations, moving furniture into properties, DIY and property repairs/maintenance, safety checks and generally helping with practical tasks and other duties.Appropriate physical strength is needed to lift and move materials in and out of a van on a daily basis from bedside tables to, fridge-freezers, wardrobes and washing machines. You will also need a full clean GB driving licence and experience driving long-wheelbase vansYou will need a positive, creative and non-judgmental approach. Experience of working with migrants, asylum seekers, people from other cultures and in using interpreters is helpful.
