Early Years Safeguarding Adviser

Apply Now

Cambridgeshire County Council

(Annual) £41,958 per annum

06/05/2026

We are seeking a dedicated Early Years Safeguarding Adviser to join our team.

This post is 37 hours per week, with weekend and evening work as required. The post is fixed term for 1 year.

Grade P1, salary £41,958

What will you be doing?

In this vital role, no two days are the same. One day you may be training early years practitioners to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to safeguard children effectively; the next, you may be attending an urgent meeting with partners, such as the LADO. You will undertake a variety of tasks, which also include offering advice to early years settings or responding to their queries. You will also recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns with professional curiosity, maintain accurate and timely records, and liaise confidently with external agencies such as Ofsted or partners such as the LADO. You will also collaborate with the Safeguarding Children Partnership Board and represent early years in the context of the inter-agency arrangements for safeguarding and child protection in Cambridgeshire.

About you

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual who will work closely with the Early Years Safeguarding team and be an important part of the wider Early Years team. You will have a flexible approach to adapt to the dynamic needs of the role. You will have a strong understanding of the range of legislation, both statutory and non-statutory, that supports the safety and well-being of children. You will be willing to undertake necessary training so that you can deliver a high-quality service to settings, partners and colleagues.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

For more information or to chat about this opportunity please contact Gemma Hope on gemma.hope@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

or Susan Sykes on susan.sykes@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

Interviews will be held on Wednesday 13 May 2026 at Sunley House, Summers Hill Drive, Papworth Everard, Cambridge, CB23 3RG.
