Join our dynamic and fast-paced Statutory Assessment Team as a SEN Casework Officer, where you’ll play a vital role in supporting children and young people with special educational needs. We’re looking for someone with a strong working knowledge of SEND legislation, including the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEN Code of Practice, who can confidently navigate complex casework and work collaboratively with families, schools, and partners. What will you be doing?

As a SEN Casework Officer, you will manage a varied caseload, liaising closely with parents and carers, educational settings, and involved professionals to ensure the smooth progression of statutory assessments and annual reviews. You’ll be responsible for coordinating information, preparing paperwork for panels, and ensuring decisions are actioned in a timely and compliant way. The role includes drafting, maintaining, and amending Education, Health and Care Plans, as well as securing suitable education placements for children and young people. Strong organisation, effective communication, and a commitment to delivering high‑quality casework are essential to success in this busy and rewarding position.

About you

The ideal candidate will be highly organised, reliable, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate, clear records are essential. You will be an excellent communicator, confident in forming positive and effective professional relationships with colleagues, parents, educational settings, and a wide range of external partners. The role requires someone who can interpret complex professional reports, make sound judgments, and challenge decisions appropriately when needed. You should be calm under pressure, solutions‑focused, and able to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and resilience.
