Deputy Manager (Alternative Provisions) – New Roads Hub | 9066 | Permanent Contract | 37 hours per week | £43,822 to £48,227 per annum plus on-call payments | Grade K | Norfolk Children’s Homes Young people are at the heart of our practice at Norfolk County Council. Through Vital Signs, our vision for Children in Norfolk, we work with whole family networks and across the whole system to support families to build on their strengths and to achieve the best possible outcomes.    Bringing together a team of specialists through a central hub, our model is designed to provide intensive short-term interventions to prevent entry into care, escalation to long term care, prevent placement breakdown or facilitate placement step downs.   This is a unique opportunity for a good leader who has excellent interpersonal skills and can demonstrate their ability to lead, motivate staff and drive change. They will make sure that young people are at the centre of everything that happens in the home, you will be an excellent problem solver, make sound judgements under pressure and respond effectively in a crisis. As a Deputy Manager, you will be expected to provide management support to the staff, providing residential and/or outreach support in accordance with legislation, departmental policies and procedures and county priorities.  Support the Team Manager in providing effective management and leadership to the team, ensuring that appropriate consultation and advice is given that will enable services to be provided to the department’s standards. Ideally you will have a background in residential care and Outreach services or be very experienced in working with children and have significant post qualification experience related to the role. You will be required to have a Level 5 in Leadership and management / be prepared to complete this. You will be expected to undertake the requirements set out in the National Minimum Standards. You will be required to be registered under Ofsted guidelines. This post is predominantly office hours, but candidates will need to be able to work flexibly when required to help manage the busy logistics of a children’s home.  You will be responsible for and will participate in the ‘out of hours’ rota for the home and will need to be able to occasionally work weekends, evenings and bank holidays, where necessary, which may involve sleeping in, depending on the needs of the service. Duties will include the supervision, support and performance management of the staff team.  Support the Manager with the ongoing development of the home monitoring all aspects of the home, as required by the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.  Be able to have the skills and dynamic way of thinking to produce bespoke plans / outreach support packages to children and their families, often in emergency situations. To work within this environment, you will need to be committed to making a difference in the lives of young people.
