Streetscene Inspector | 10137 | Permanent Contract | 37 hours per week | £32,061 to £33,699 per annum (Scale G) | Remote working with attendance at local depots

Are you looking for a role where every day makes a real difference to the safety, efficiency, and reliability of Norfolk’s highways? We’re looking for committed and motivated Streetscene Inspectors (Streetworks) to join our Area Streetworks team within the Highways Services Team.

You will play a key role in monitoring and inspecting works taking place on the public highway – helping to keep our road network moving and safe for residents, businesses, and visitors across Norfolk.

As a Streetscene Inspector, you are the person who makes sure the work on our highways is safe, legal and well‑managed.

Your decisions help:

  • keep road users safe
  • reduce delays and disruption
  • protect the quality of Norfolk’s highway network
  • hold works promoters and their contractors to account

No two days will be the same. You will:

  • Inspect roadworks, streetworks and licensed activities to make sure they meet legal and safety standards
  • Identify overruns and permit breaches, collecting evidence for Fixed Penalty Notices and charges
  • Engage with residents, councillors, businesses, utility companies and contractors
  • Respond to local concerns and help resolve issues on site
  • Manage licences such as skips, scaffolds and events
  • Help plan diversion routes and support Temporary Traffic Orders

It’s a balance of technical work, community engagement, decision‑making and real autonomy.

For an informal discussion regarding this role, please contact Sarah Widdows on 01603 217861
