#Outstanding

Join an Outstanding local authority and be part of one of the strongest children’s services in the country. Following our recent Ofsted inspection, inspectors found that children in Norfolk receive “consistently strong services that impact positively on their and their families’ lives.” They described our practice as “child centred” and highlighted a culture where “children and care leavers come first.” If you are looking for a role where your practice is valued and your impact is recognised, Norfolk is the place to build your career.

#NCCBeTheDifference

In Norfolk, children and young people are at the heart of everything we do. Our multidisciplinary teams work together to provide the right help at the right time, so families receive meaningful support earlier and children are given the best possible chance to thrive.

Who Cares? We do!

You will be joining an authority that values its practitioners and backs them to do their best work. We are committed to flexible working, professional development and creating the conditions for social workers to feel supported, trusted and able to make a real difference.

  • A supportive senior leadership team that prioritises manageable workloads, flexible working and streamlined processes that reduce unnecessary paperwork.
  • A clear progression pathway to Senior Social Worker for practitioners with three or more years’ post-qualifying statutory experience, with opportunities to lead complex work and support colleagues through mentoring and practice leadership.
  • New Expert roles aligned to Team Manager level, giving you more ways to grow your career and develop your expertise with us.

Family Help

Family Help is a relational, multidisciplinary model designed to bring the right professionals together around children and families. Our teams focus on direct work, stronger relationships and the wider family network to create lasting change. Each team includes around 22 practitioners, with social workers working alongside family support workers, specialist practitioners and team managers. This structure means families can access targeted support earlier, children benefit from more coordinated help, and social workers feel better supported in their practice with reduced intervention times and less paperwork.

About you

You will be a confident, skilled practitioner registered with Social Work England, ideally with experience of child protection, assessments and court work in a UK setting. Most importantly, you will share our commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for children and families and be ready to bring energy, compassion and strong professional judgement to your practice.

Our young people have developed key principles for their ideal worker to help them flourish. Please read these principles carefully and apply only if you can fully commit to them. Ideal Worker Practice Principles.

We particularly welcome applications from underrepresented groups at Norfolk County Council, including Black and Global Majority practitioners, and we are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.

If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, we encourage you to read the full Job Description and Person Specification before applying, so you can show clearly how you meet the criteria.
