At Suffolk County Council (SCC), every role is a chance to create positive change. As a Road Safety Officer, you’ll see the direct impact of your work on the people and places that make Suffolk special. Join us and turn your passion for progress into action.

Reimagine the possibilities.

Your role and responsibilities

Working closely with the Senior Road Safety Officer and Active Travel team you will help to develop and deliver road safety education to schools, colleges and communities, with the aim of reducing road casualties in Suffolk.

You’ll provide education and support in communities, for individuals and groups promoting road safety, healthy lifestyles, active travel and sustainability.

You will be the “Face of SCC Road Safety” to teachers, pupils, and members of the public.

You will need

  • to be happy and confident speaking to groups of pupils and adults.

Our ideal candidate would have experience in an education/training, road safety or behaviour change field, or of working within sustainable travel promotion/education.

We hope you’ll bring ideas and suggest new ways of delivering road safety messages to Suffolk. No two days follow the same pattern, and you will be flexible and manage your own time.

We value willingness to learn and grow with us, even if you don’t have the road safety knowledge but come from an education background we’d like to hear from you.

You can view a full list of requirements in the Job and Person Profile (Word). If you believe you can succeed in this role, apply. We would appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.

We are a lively and proactive team which is pragmatic and solutions focussed.

We want to represent the diverse communities we serve. We welcome applications from all individuals, especially those from groups that are currently underrepresented in the organisation, as shown in our Workforce Equality Report.
