Your role and responsibilities

As a Homes for Ukraine Project Officer, you’ll travel across Suffolk, visiting Ukrainian guests and hosts, assessing needs, making referrals, signposting, and offering support. You’ll manage a caseload, create housing plans, and follow up with Ukrainians moving to independent accommodation. You’ll respond to queries from guests, hosts, and organisations, and support project work across the directorate. You’ll also engage and support public sector partners, develop contacts and relationships with colleagues and partners, plan and manage projects, facilitate relationships, and contribute to reports and data analysis. You’ll be a role model for Suffolk County Council’s WEASPIRE values.

On a typical day, you might:

  • Undertake visits to hosts and Ukrainian guests anywhere within Suffolk, following health and safety processes.
  • Identify the needs of Ukrainian guests, signposting or making referrals to other agencies to mitigate against harm.
  • Identify potential safeguarding issues and escalate through appropriate channels.
  • Liaise with hosts and guests via telephone and email.
  • Support Ukrainian guests to move into independent living by providing resources and developing tailored accommodation plans.
  • Update resource packs for use by the wider team.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of interactions and activity.
  • Take ownership of cases.
  • Support project work as needed across the directorate.

You will need

  • A qualification in a relevant subject or evidence of equivalent knowledge, skill, and experience gained in employment or learning.
  • Passion for making a positive difference for Suffolk.
  • Commitment to fairness and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).
  • Creativity, innovation, and openness to change.
  • Strong collaborative skills and willingness to support colleagues.
  • Experience and/or good knowledge of best practice and legislation relevant to the role.
  • Project management and planning skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities.
  • Experience working with data and producing reports.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • IT skills, including Windows-based software, social media, and the Internet.
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and bring fresh perspectives.
