Job Introduction
Salary: £33,143 – £36,363 a year pro rata
Hours: 37 a week
Contract type: Secondment/Fixed Term for 3 years
This role is available for 3 years. Internal candidates who are permanent employees of Luton Council will be appointed on a secondment basis, while external candidates and other eligible applicants will be appointed on a fixed-term contract for 3 years.

What You’ll be doing
As a Place Safety Coordinator, you will play a key role in making our communities safer by leading the coordination and delivery of place-based safety initiatives across the borough. Working closely with colleagues, partner agencies, local communities and other stakeholders, you will identify emerging issues, analyse local trends and develop coordinated action plans to tackle community safety concerns.
You will facilitate multi-agency meetings, build strong partnerships and ensure agreed actions are delivered effectively to achieve positive outcomes for local areas. The role also involves preparing reports and presenting information to a range of audiences, including senior officers, Members and partnership boards, helping to inform decision-making and shape future priorities.
You will support the development of funding opportunities to deliver innovative projects and sustainable solutions that improve place-based safety. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by working collaboratively to create safer, stronger and more resilient communities.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for a proactive and organised individual with experience of delivering community safety projects and working in partnership with a range of agencies and local communities. You will be confident coordinating multi-agency activity, managing competing priorities and using a problem-solving approach to deliver positive outcomes for local places.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships, influence others and present information clearly to a variety of audiences. You’ll be comfortable analysing complex issues, producing high-quality reports and using your initiative to develop practical, sustainable solutions.
You will be confident using a range of IT systems and be able to manage your workload with minimal supervision while working within established procedures. A good understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion, together with knowledge of problem-solving approaches such as SARA and PAT, is essential.
A relevant professional qualification, or equivalent experience, is required. The role also requires flexibility to attend meetings across the borough, including occasional evenings, and a full UK driving licence with access to a suitable vehicle to undertake site visits.
