About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Medical Needs Education Team; a team dedicated to making a difference to the lives of young people who are unable to attend school due to illness.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a passionate team of experienced and driven teachers, who work collaboratively to ensure that all young people achieve the best possible educational outcomes and reach their potential. We are a child centred team who hold wellbeing policy at the heart of all that we do and therefore we place an emphasis on offering superb professional development and support to all members of the team.

This role will involve leading the Maths Team and supporting the Head of Service as part of the Senior Leadership Team. You will also teach and inspire KS3 and KS4 children in Maths; differentiating their learning to meet their medical needs and SEN and motivating these students to achieve despite their considerable personal challenges. Lessons are mainly 1:1 and will take place in a range of locations including homes and libraries, depending on the child’s needs. You will be responsible for implementing safeguarding policy for your pupils and your team. In addition, the post holder will work closely with senior mainstream staff in schools, CAMHS, medical professionals, social workers, CBC SEN staff and the pupil and their family, to create and lead a strategic reintegration plan and to ensure the best possible outcomes.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and patient individual who has a passion for seeing young people succeed. You need to be a proactive problem solver with excellent communication skills and have the ability to work flexibly and independently with a solution focused approach. You will also need to be a strategic thinker and manage the progress and attainment of the Maths team effectively.

Qualified to degree level with qualified teacher status and several years teaching experience, you will have a full UK driving licence and the ability to drive to travel as part of the role. Previous experience of working in a SEN/ pastoral role or as a Maths Subject Leader would be an advantage.

Join us and take advantage of agile working and the chance to make a difference to the life of a child.
