Instrumental Programmes & CPD Coordinator

Team: Music Service

Salary: £50,919 per annum pro rata

Hours: 7.4 hours per week (0.2fte, one day per week)

Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.

Contract Type: Hybrid – Permanent

About the Role

It’s an exciting time at Central Bedfordshire’s Music Service.

We are seeking an organised and proactive Instrumental Programmes and CPD Coordinator to support the development of high-quality music education across schools. This flexible, part-time role is ideal for a music education professional with strong coordination skills, a collaborative approach, and a passion for creating opportunities for young musicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse and evaluate school needs to support the development and improvement of music provision.
  • Coordinate and support Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities, working with established partners and developing new relationships.
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with external organisations and stakeholders.
  • Lead and organise public performance opportunities for instrumentalists and ensembles.
  • Liaise with Whole Class teaching colleagues to develop, collate, and share relevant schemes of work.

About You

Essential Criteria

  • Strong knowledge of music education pedagogy, particularly in whole-class settings.
  • Substantial teaching experience across group, whole-class, and individual contexts.
  • Experience planning and supporting professional development opportunities for teachers.
  • Experience organising events and performance opportunities for young musicians.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of national music education initiatives and requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of partners and stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data to inform planning and decision-making.
  • Strong administrative skills and ability to manage projects through to completion.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation including safeguarding, data protection, and health & safety.
  • Ability to manage time, resources, and budgets effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to high standards in music education.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience coordinating CPD programmes.
  • Experience building partnerships to increase participation in music or the performing arts.
  • Experience managing distributed or remote teams.
