Norfolk Pension Fund administers the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and manages the assets of the Fund (£5.5 billion as at March 2025), on behalf of 436 participating employers, and around 110,000 members. Employers include Norfolk County Council, district councils, parish councils, academies, as well as an increasingly number of private sector employers who are undertaking work previously done by the public sector.

As part of national “Fit for the Future” reforms to strengthen governance across the LGPS, and in anticipation of new regulations, the Fund is appointing an Independent Person to sit alongside the Pensions Committee. This is a non-voting role that provides impartial expertise, challenge, scrutiny and assurance across governance, investment and administration.
We are seeking someone with:
• Recognised professional expertise across pensions administration, governance, funding and investment, and a commitment to continuous improvement
• Significant senior-level pensions experience
• A strong understanding of the UK pensions landscape with LGPS experience preferred
• A collaborative approach and strong interpersonal skills
You will have access to training and information to help you carry out your responsibilities effectively and will be supported by Fund officers, pensions specialists and the wider senior leadership team .
