This is a dynamic and varied role that places you at the heart of highway enforcement across Cambridgeshire.To carry out enforcement action on behalf of the Council in relation to its landholding and responsibilities, seeking approval through the relevant Head of Service / Service Director where required.You will be responsible for identifying and investigating unauthorised activities on the highway, including obstructions, encroachments, and unlawful signage. You will issue enforcement notices where necessary and work closely with internal teams, elected members, and external stakeholders to resolve issues in a fair and timely manner.Your role will involve maintaining accurate records of enforcement actions, interpreting legislation and policy, and advising colleagues and councillors on best practice. You will contribute to the development of enforcement strategies and help shape future service delivery. As a visible presence in the community, you will promote awareness of highway regulations and encourage voluntary compliance through education and engagement. About you We are seeking a confident and capable professional with a strong understanding of highway legislation and enforcement procedures. You will bring experience from a regulatory, enforcement, or public service background, and demonstrate a calm, assertive approach to resolving complex issues. Your knowledge of the Highways Act 1980 and related legislation will be complemented by your ability to apply policy consistently and fairly.You will be an excellent communicator, able to engage with a wide range of stakeholders and manage challenging situations with professionalism and tact.
