Join our forward-thinking and innovative service!

At Hertfordshire County Council, we are focused on delivering positive and successful life outcomes for local children. We know a great education is vital to putting children and young people on the right path, and as such, we’re investing in extending our Educational Psychology Service. With a focus on utilising an integrated practices framework, our service delivers innovative solutions to some of Hertfordshire’s most vulnerable residents.

As an Educational Psychologist who has experience of supporting children and young people aged 0 to 25 (with a particular emphasis on SEND), you will deliver high quality preventative and statutory advice that will enable service users to get the most out of their educational experiences, overcoming hurdles to inclusion and success. This will put you at the cutting-edge of educational psychology, as you devise creative strategies and interventions that will help children and young people get the most out of life.

We welcome applications from trainee EPs currently on the doctoral course.

We are looking for a research or evidence-based practitioner with an exceptional ability to connect with children and young people. With skills in formulating hypotheses based on the evidence that you are provided with, you will have the flexibility to provide last-minute crisis and critical incidence support, so that we can fully embrace the importance of early intervention.

HCPC registered, with qualifications that are recognised by the British Psychological Society, you will have a good knowledge of legislation relating to young people under the age of 25. You will also be a highly organised individual with good communication and engagement capabilities, and able to remain calm and resilient under pressure. Due to the nature of the role, a driving licence and vehicle are essential.

For an informal discussion and more information please contact: Naina Cowell, Principal EP (East) naina.cowell@hertfordshire.gov.uk or Melanie Flay, Principal EP (West) melanie.flay@hertfordshire.gov.uk

Recruitment is ongoing, and you will be contacted via email about the success of your application within 2 weeks.

Benefits of working for us:

• Up to 3 additional SPA points
• £3k Annual Market Enhancement – terms apply
• Up to £6k Relocation Package – terms apply
• Up to 36 Days Annual Leave
• Reimbursement of HCPC Fees
• Flexible Working Arrangements
• Excellent CPD Opportunities
• Salary Exchange for Additional Benefits including Annual Leave
• Excellent Pension Scheme with 19% employer contributions
• Shopping Discounts
• Support Groups & Wellbeing Schemes
• Free Parking
• Smart Working to create a positive, productive and trusting working environment
• Dedicated administrative support and varied workforce
• Strong links with university courses
• Part of a broad multi-disciplinary integrated local team, working closely with other teams including SEND and teaching.
• Regular CPD opportunities: Learning Sets, professional networking & development, EP Service CPD days, as well as the opportunity to attend external CPD courses, conferences and events
• Reflective supervision and peer support
• Opportunities to participate in countywide initiatives

As part of your application, please upload your most recent CV. Ensure your CV is up to date with your employment history (including any employment gaps), and including any training/qualifications. We encourage you to include examples of where you have demonstrated the requirements/criteria in the advert / job outline, to allow the panel to fully recognise your skills and abilities. You will have the opportunity to include a short covering paragraph within your application to give us a little more information about your skills, knowledge, and experiences.

We are pleased to offer sponsorship of eligible roles that met the UKV&I requirements for candidates who currently reside in the UK at the time of application.
