Education and Training Worker | 9449 | Secondment Opportunity / Temporary Fixed Term Contract until 25th June 2027 | 37 hours per week | £39,862 to £41,771 per annum | Grade J | Great Yarmouth Norfolk Youth Justice Service is looking to recruit an Education, Training & Employment (ETE) Coordinator to take the lead role across the service for all ETE matters and support children in youth justice to reach their full potential.   To apply, please download an application form >> Here << and attach it to your online application instead of your CV.  We are keen to appoint an experienced education professional who is passionate about improving outcomes for the most vulnerable children.  The role will involve engaging children who may have experienced trauma, previous school exclusions and rejection and may have an entrenched mistrust of adults. This countywide role is part of the Education, Training and Employment team within our Norfolk Youth Justice Service Partnership Strand.   All About You  The successful candidate must be passionate about and have experience in improving the education, training and employment opportunities of vulnerable children. You will have experience working with vulnerable children and the ability to deliver creative interventions.  You need to be someone who can work collaboratively with other youth justice colleagues, educational providers, and partner agencies to influence, challenge and advocate for children in youth justice.   You will have up to date knowledge of the education system, guidance and legislation, and pathways into further education, training and employment. You will be familiar with legislation and national guidance relating to the education of children in care and those with special educational needs.   Our Norfolk Youth Justice Service (NYJS) is a statutory multi-agency partnership hosted within Norfolk County Council, established by section 37 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.    Anti-racist statement for Norfolk Youth Justice Service  The Justice Select Committee noted that “race disproportionality is significant and fundamental, visible in every part of the youth justice system”.   We are committed to becoming an anti-racist service. We accept responsibility for taking action wherever and whenever racism occurs.   We will:  Educate ourselves and encourage conversation.  Challenge ourselves and learn from our mistakes.  The voices of children and parents from ethnic minority communities will be listened to, acted upon and incorporated into our strategies and our actions.  We will strengthen our structures and systems, our policies and our procedures so that they remove barriers for children from ethnic minority backgrounds.  We shall be equitable in how we treat children and, in the decisions, we make about them.   Our aim is to prevent children and young people from offending whilst safeguarding their welfare, protecting the public and helping restore the damage caused to the victims of their crimes.   Our key outcomes, prioritised nationally by the Ministry of Justice are to:   Reduce the number of children and young people coming into the youth justice system (first time entrants)   Reduce re-offending by children and young people   Reduce the numbers of young people going into custody (prison) either sentenced or on remand.  The postholder will be expected to work flexibly, with a clear expectation of evening, weekend and bank holiday working. This includes work on a rota basis to cover weekend and bank holiday statutory contact’s cover.
