Duty Worker – Kinship and Adoption Support Team | 10260 | Secondment Opportunity / Temporary Fixed Term Contract for two years | 37 hours per week | £29,064 to £31,022 per annum | Grade F | County Hall

We are excited to advertise for a Duty Worker to join us on a two year secondment / temporary fixed term contract. This post sits within the Kinship and Adoption Support Team, a county‑wide service working with families and children who are subject to an Adoption Order or living in Kinship arrangements. Although this role is positioned primarily on the Adoption side of the team, the post‑holder will work closely and collaboratively with the Kinship Duty Worker, providing cover and shared support to ensure continuity of service across both specialisms.

This position is integral to the smooth and effective functioning of the Service and plays a key role as the first point of contact for new referrals into the team, as well as for enquiries received via the daily advice line.

The Duty Worker will:

  • Act as the initial point of contact for enquiries, offering timely and appropriate advice, guidance, and signposting, ensuring families and professionals receive clear and accurate information.
  • Coordinate incoming referrals and consultations, including those relating to the Adoption Support Fund (ASF).
  • Hold a duty/review caseload, acting as the named worker for some cases as appropriate.
  • Complete therapy reviews and contribute to the formulation and ongoing review of Adoption Support Plans, with oversight and guidance from a Senior Social Worker and the Team Manager.
  • Support with the coordination of support groups and family days, ensuring activities are effectively planned, communicated, and responsive to the needs of adoptive families.
  • Work closely with the Kinship Duty Worker, sharing information, aligning processes, and supporting joint areas of delivery as needed.
  • Provide cover for the Kinship Duty Worker during periods of absence to maintain a consistent and responsive duty system across the service.
  • Support the Team Manager with data management across the team, including collating, maintaining, and analysing service data; supporting performance monitoring; preparing data summaries; and contributing to service planning through accurate and timely information.
  • Contribute to the production and coordination of the team’s Newsletter, ensuring content reflects current activity, resources, and updates relevant to families and professionals.
  • Provide general operational support to ensure the effective delivery of high‑quality, responsive support to adoptive families and kinship carers across the county.
