Peterborough City Council

£47,181 – £51,356

All about the Role

The Case Manager plays a key role in supporting up to 6–7 children placed within a secure residential environment for their own safety or the safety of others. The role focuses on building positive relationships with young people, ensuring they are safeguarded, and that their complex needs are met through effective assessment, planning, and multi‑disciplinary collaboration.

You will lead on the development and monitoring of placement plans, behaviour support plans, risk assessments, and transition plans—ensuring all documentation meets regulatory standards. The role involves supervising keyworkers, overseeing casework quality, and coordinating with education, health, social care, and partner agencies to provide a consistent, integrated approach to care.

The Case Manager also contributes to incident management, supports staff development, ensures compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted standards, and may deputise for senior managers when required. Participation in duty and on‑call rotas, as well as occasional evening/weekend availability, is expected.

All about our Team

You would be joining the Clare Lodge Children’s Services team, a multidisciplinary group working within a secure residential environment for vulnerable young people. The team is led by the Registered Manager and includes several Case Managers, keyworkers, and support staff who work collaboratively to safeguard children, support their progress, and ensure their complex needs are met.

The team operates in a highly structured, regulated setting and works closely with education staff, health professionals, social workers, and external agencies. It is a supportive, child‑focused environment where staff contribute to risk assessment, care planning, therapeutic interventions, and the continuous development of best practice. The team also shares responsibility for incident management, on‑call duties, and maintaining high standards in line with Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted expectations.

All about You

We are looking for someone who is compassionate, resilient, and confident in working with young people who have complex needs. You will bring strong professional curiosity, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children in a secure setting. You should be able to stay calm under pressure, make sound decisions, and adapt quickly when situations change.

You will have solid experience in children’s residential care, including leading staff, managing risk, and delivering high‑quality care planning. You’ll be someone who can guide and support others, uphold safeguarding responsibilities, and collaborate effectively with a range of professionals. A commitment to high standards, continuous learning, and promoting the welfare and safety of every young person is essential.
