Capital Projects and Project Management Surveyor Location: Council Offices, Benfleet Job Title: Capital Projects and Project Management Surveyor Full Time – 37 hours per weekGrade: 9- Starting £48,226 Castle Point Borough Council is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor / Project Management Surveyor to join our Estates team within the Commercial & Assets Directorate. This is a key role in delivering capital projects and managing the Council’s commercial and community assets (non-housing). We are looking for someone who can: Lead on a wide range of projects from minor refurbishments to major capital investment schemes Provide expert advice on building fabric, infrastructure, and strategic investment decisions Conduct detailed building surveys and condition assessments Prepare specifications, tenders, and cost estimates Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and relevant legislation Build strong relationships with stakeholders and contractors to deliver projects on time and within budget Key Skills and Abilities: Strong project management experience with ability to oversee multiple projects Excellent communication and negotiation skills Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team Good IT skills for analytical and management purposes Essential Experience and Qualifications: Minimum 5 years’ experience in building and facilities-related work MRICS or equivalent professional qualification Knowledge of CDM Regulations, JCT contracts, and building compliance Full driving licence and own vehicle Desirable: Experience in the public sector or local authority environment Knowledge of health and safety regulations within construction Familiarity with Essex area and community ethos Not only is this a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact on the Council’s asset strategy, but you’ll also benefit from: 27 days annual leave FREE gym membership Flexible working arrangements For an informal discussion regarding this role, please contact:Nigel Watson, Estates & Assets Manager Email: NWatson@castlepoint.gov.uk The successful applicant will be subject to a Standard Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
