  • Suffolk County Council
  • Address: Endeavour House, Ipswich, Suffolk IP1 2BX, hybrid working
  • Salary: £34,434 per annum (pro rata for part time)
  • Hours: 37 hours per week, flexible working options available
  • Contract: Fixed term or Secondment for 12 months (funding)

At Suffolk County Council, every role is a chance to create positive change. As an Apprenticeships Suffolk Advisor in the Suffolk Economy and Skills Team, you’ll play a key role in supporting and strengthening the local apprenticeship system.

Be part of the team who inspire and support individuals to develop the skills, confidence and opportunities they need to succeed, while working closely with employers, providers and stakeholders to grow and shape the local skills landscape.

You’ll build strong relationships, deliver tangible impact and contribute to a thriving talent pipeline that supports Suffolk’s economy and communities. Join us and turn your passion for progress into action.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with employers, support individuals, and help shape apprenticeships across Suffolk. Every day is different, but all of them make a real impact.

Reimagine the possibilities.

Your role and responsibilities

You’ll play a pivotal role in connecting people and businesses through the power of apprenticeships, building strong relationships with employers to understand their workforce needs and create meaningful opportunities. By promoting initiatives such as the Skills and Growth Levy Share Scheme, you will help organisations maximise funding while widening access to apprenticeships across the community. Working directly with individuals and groups, you will inspire confidence, develop skills, and support people to explore rewarding career pathways, matching apprenticeship-ready candidates with local employers. You will bring energy and creativity to delivering workshops, events and campaigns that raise awareness and engagement, while collaborating with training providers and partners to strengthen networks and expand opportunities. Using data and insights to track progress and continuously improve delivery, you will also represent the team at meetings and stakeholder forums, staying up to date with the evolving skills landscape so you can provide relevant, practical advice that makes a real difference.

You will need

  • strong relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage employers, training providers and partners. This might come from experience in skills, employment, customer-facing or stakeholder roles
  • a well-organised and proactive approach, able to plan ahead, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines, while staying flexible in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to explain information, offer guidance and engage different audiences, from individuals starting out to employer representatives
  • a genuine passion for making a difference, particularly in supporting people to develop skills and access opportunities, and helping employers grow through apprenticeships and Levy Share
  • a collaborative mindset, enjoying working as part of a supportive team while also being confident working independently and using your initiative
  • an interest in skills, apprenticeships and the wider economy, with a willingness to learn and stay up to date, we wouldn’t expect you to know everything from day one but welcome a healthy curiosity in all things ‘skills’
  • support team promotional activity, contributing to marketing and social media campaigns that raise awareness of apprenticeships and engage employers and potential participants.

You can view a full list of requirements in the Job and Person Profile (JPP), which you can find in the ‘How to apply’ section towards the bottom of this advert.

If you believe you can succeed in this role, apply. Even if you don’t meet all requirements, still apply. We would appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.
