How accessible this site is
This website is run by Improvement East on behalf of 11 authorities within the Eastern Region. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader
All images and banners have colour contrast that adheres to the accessibility regulations. We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- the text will not reflow in a single column when you change the size of the browser window
- you cannot modify the line height or spacing of text
- not all of our videos have captions
- you may not be able to skip to the main content when using a screen reader

Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:
- Accessing text based content
You cannot modify the line height or spacing of text. You may not be able to change colours, contrast levels and fonts within the website. In some instances you may not be able to skip to the main content when using a screen reader. If changing the size of the browser, content will adapt but on some pages the text will not reflow in a single column. However, some external accessibility tools may allow you to do this. We’ve assessed the cost of fixing the issues with navigation and accessing text We believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. - Rich media
Throughout the site, there may be some instances where our rich video content does not have captions. These videos have been provided across our 11 authorities and have not been created by the Eastern Region. An embedded map is also used to visually display the 11 authorities that make up the Eastern Region. This embedded map will not have screen-reader accessibility.
