Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.

About the role:

The Bedfordshire Employment and Skills Academy (BESA) seeks to develop and deliver services that support adults, young people and businesses improve their skills levels, get people into work or further training, and support economic growth.

We are looking for a talented and proactive Engagement Officer to join our team, for a fixed term period of 1 year. This is an exciting opportunity that plays a key role in promoting learning and employment opportunities to residents, increasing engagement, and ensuring funding is fully utilised to support individuals, employers, and communities.

Working with a wide range of stakeholders, you will lead the development and delivery of marketing and engagement activities that raise awareness of our full offer while ensuring compliance with funding, branding, and accessibility requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and developing communications and promotional activities to maximise engagement and utilisation of funded programmes.

  • Creating high-quality marketing content that meets branding, accessibility, and funding compliance requirements.

  • Monitoring and evaluating marketing and engagement performance through analytics, surveys, dashboards, and reporting.

  • Producing and maintaining accurate, professional documentation and promotional materials.

  • Presenting information to stakeholders at meetings, events, and community engagement activities.

  • Building positive relationships with employers, partners, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

  • Supporting the service to achieve its strategic objectives through effective marketing and engagement practices.

You will have:

  • Proven experience in marketing, communications, engagement, or a related field.

  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce reports, articles, promotional materials, and stakeholder communications independently.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience using Microsoft Excel to interpret, track, and report performance data.

  • Experience using marketing analytics, engagement metrics, surveys, and dashboards to measure impact.

  • An excellent understanding of branding, accessibility requirements, and customer-focused communications.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Confidence in presenting information and engaging with a variety of audiences.

  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.

  • A Level 2 IAG and marketing qualification is desirable; however, equivalent professional experience will also be considered.

  • An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this role.

The role is being offered on a fixed term basis for a period of 12 months. This role is covering a period of maternity leave and employment will cease when the period of leave has ended. The Council cannot confirm how long the period of leave will last, but it is unlikely to be more than 12 months. The Council cannot guarantee you any minimum or maximum period of employment.
