Your role and responsibilities

Join Suffolk County Council’s Psychology and Therapeutic Services as an Inclusion Facilitator and play a key role in delivering early, relational and person-centred support for children and young people across Suffolk.

In this role, you will help make mainstream inclusion a reality. You will work alongside children, families and professionals to build environments where children feel safe, understood and able to engage. Using flexible, hybrid ways of working and a range of evidence-informed approaches, you will support meaningful, lasting change.

What you will be doing

You’ll tailor your approach to each child or young person, drawing on a wide range of evidence-informed approaches, including:

  • relationship-based work to build trust and understand lived experiences
  • therapeutic support to explore emotions, identity and belonging
  • person-centred planning approaches such as PATH and Mini-PATH (you don’t need prior experience of graphical facilitation – we will support you to learn)

You will also work alongside key adults to strengthen systems and practice, for example through:

  • developing and using sensory profiles
  • supporting peer inclusion approaches such as Circle of Friends
  • facilitating Team Pupil and Solution Circles
  • shaping therapeutic timetables that support co-regulation across the day

Your focus will always be on creating sustainable, long-term change rather than short-term intervention.

You will need

  • A passion for inclusion and improving outcomes for children and young people.
  • Experience of working with children, young people or families, with an understanding of their needs (e.g. education, care, youth work, health or similar settings).
  • A commitment to ongoing learning, professional development and continuous improvement in your practice.
  • Willingness to engage in supervision, peer support and reflective practice.
  • Openness to developing your practice, including training in approaches such as solution‑focused, trauma‑informed and inclusive practice.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a reflective and supportive team, sharing ideas and learning from others.
  • Motivation to develop specialist skills and areas of interest over time.
  • Aspiration to progress, including interest in development pathways such as Senior Inclusion Facilitator (Grade 5).
  • Readiness to build experience and undertake further development or study to support your progression.
  • Enthusiasm to grow, develop and actively contribute to the team.

The team

A warm welcome awaits you in Suffolk County Council’s Psychology and Therapeutic Services. Our Inclusion Facilitators are central to delivering Suffolk’s SEND reform priorities – strengthening mainstream inclusion, promoting early intervention, and building capacity across schools, families and wider systems.

We provide therapeutic, psychologically informed support to children and young people aged 0–25 across Suffolk. You’ll work across a range of settings including homes, education and community environments, using a mix of face-to-face, virtual and hybrid approaches. There is an expectation to attend an office base at least once per week.

You’ll join a highly supportive and reflective team, working closely with Educational Psychologists and other professionals to make a meaningful difference. We offer:

  • ongoing training in therapeutic and person-centred approaches
  • structured supervision and dedicated time for reflective practice
  • opportunities to develop systemic thinking and workforce development skills
  • a clear internal progression pathway within the Inclusion Facilitation Service

  • Access to regular supervision, peer support and opportunities for reflective practice

  • Clear progression pathway to Senior Inclusion Facilitator (Grade 5), supported through experience and, where appropriate, further study
  • A team culture where we learn together, share ideas and support one another to continually improve our practice
