About the Department 

If you are looking for something unique and to progress your own knowledge base and skills this is a great role for you.  Thurrock Council are seeking to recruit a Gangs & CCE Co-Ordinator to join a small supportive team to provide direct support to practitioners, children and families who are working with, at risk of, or who have experienced gangs and child criminal exploitation. This role will involve working across children services to develop and deliver effective support for young people, families and professionals

About the Role 

The successful applicant will be based in the Child Exploitation Team and will be responsible for training and supporting staff who are working with young people affected by child criminal exploitation and gang related behaviour. 

As part of Thurrock Children’s Services, you will provide direct support to front line practitioners working with young people who are at risk of, or who have experienced gangs and child criminal exploitation. 

This role will involve working across children services, schools, academies and relevant partners to develop and deliver effective support and interventions for young people, families and professionals. 

This role will involve leading on mapping and have a sound knowledge of contextual safeguarding.

The successful candidate must have a proven track record working within this field either as a Social Worker or within Probation.     

This role offers the chance to make a real difference to young people who are vulnerable to or victims of child exploitation. 

What We’re Looking For 

We’re looking for someone who has: 

  • Previous experience of working with young people affected by child criminal exploitation and gangs.
  • Experience of coordinating a multi-agency response to service delivery.   
  • Knowledge of emerging practice in gangs, child criminal exploitation, county lines and preventative services.
  • Ability to organise own workload and work well under pressure
  • Confidence to provide training to practitioners across C&F and partner agencies.

Essential qualifications: To hold a degree recognised by YJS or Children Social Care and partner agencies.

DBS: A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an Enhanced level with Children’s Barred List is required for this role.
