About the role
We’re excited to offer an opportunity to join our brand-new Kinship Team, where you’ll play a vital role in assessing and supporting kinship carers within our Fostering Service. This is your chance to make a real difference for children and families by helping them thrive in safe, nurturing environments.
As an Assessment Social Worker, you will work closely with applicants to assess their strengths and vulnerabilities as foster carers. You’ll guide them through the rewards and challenges of fostering, ensuring they understand their role and responsibilities throughout the process. You will also support carers in developing therapeutic parenting approaches and safeguard children within their family networks.
Your role will involve completing a range of assessments, including initial visits, Regulation 24 assessments, Special Guardianship assessments, friends and family foster assessments, and Form F assessments. You will collaborate closely with children’s social workers and other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for children. A key part of our vision is creating an accessible Local Offer for kinship carers, and your voice will help shape how our services grow and evolve.
We are looking for a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with experience in statutory social work and completing complex assessments. Experience of undertaking fostering assessments will be a significant advantage. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will present high-quality reports to panels and work effectively with other agencies. You’ll also need sound IT skills, resilience under pressure, and the ability to use initiative to solve problems.
In return, you’ll join a supportive team with an excellent track record, manageable caseloads, and a commitment to safeguarding vulnerable children. We offer a generous rewards package, opportunities for learning and career progression, and the chance to make a lasting impact by helping children thrive within their family networks.
